Colenorton Dragons

There are plans for restoration of the “Bray Cut” running behind Bray Lake. This channel runs through the centre of Maidenhead and provides access to the Thames for small water craft. The Cut is overgrown and silted up in many places limiting access. The Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group is planning for work to restore this channel to its former glory and make it a viable passage for small boats.

The Colenorton Dragons Committee supports this plan wholeheartedly. If it goes through it could allow for easier river access for the canoes and possible one day even the Dragon Boat. If you want to find out more please see the attached link.

 On the 17^th August Steve Prescott and his team will be doing an 837 mile charity event from Perpignan (France) to Wembley Stadium, to raise money for Christie Cancer Hospital and RFL Benevolent Fund.

This event will push Prescott and his team through an 800 mile bike ride from Perpignan to Windsor Castle, 24 miles from Windsor to Teddington lock in a dragon boat and a half marathon from Raf Uxbridge to Wembley.

The Team that Steve Prescott is leading is ex players Anthony Sullivan, Paul Sculthorpe, Steve Hampson, Gary Connolly, Lee Jackson, Chris Joynt, Steve Hall, Chris Smith, and Paul Barrow. Jimmy Gittins, Pete Stephenson who are Rugby League players who were both became paralysed after breaking their necks. Ex Rochdale player David Burke and ten businessmen Mike Denning, Darren Harrison, Jimmy Rothwell, Barry Ford, John Kilgannon, Shaun Keenagham, Richard Blowman, Paul Griffiths, John Mastin and Dave Gittins.
